Arch Bridge

To take a brake from Project:- Ark. I wanted to do another pictuers as it has been awhile since I did my last one.
So here is ‘Arch Bridge’ Mazda RX-8 is by Andrew Prices, the Background is from CG Textures. Everything else is by me.

These is pictuer was created by following a tutorial on Blender Guru. Here is a link to the Tutorial
The car was added to give more than a bare road.

Project: Ark – Solar Sails, Part 2

The arm for the solar sail is nearly done; all that is left is to do the connection part to the ship.
I have boxed it out and cut out the “hinge” that will allow for the arm to fold in. I will add the details to this once I am ready to put it onto the ship.
You will notice about halfway along the arm is a box; this has been put there so I can put a piston that will help push the arm out. Again this will get modelled when the arm is fitted to the ship.
The second from last pic is a basic idea on how it will fit to the ship. The last pic was just a test on showing power going from the sails into the ship.
At this moment I plan on texturing what I have already modelled. Reason being, if I don’t do this now, it will be a nightmare to do at the end. I also what to get back and get the textures finished on the Star Trek Type 11 shuttle I built not long ago.
I have not stopped modelling altogether as I have started to build the bridge/front module for the ship.
So with any luck the next update to this project will be the textures complete on the mine, RCS thrusters and airlock as well as the Solar Sail as well as the Arm.

The Pixar Blog.

As some you know I am a huge fan of the Pixar and their films.
Recently I came across a none offical blog, that has all the latest news and gossip on Pixar.
Though none offical, the site does get a lot of exclivese from Pixar.

The site is well worth a look.

Project: Ark – Solar Sails.

Anything that is sent into space these days has solar panels. Reason being if they go up with Un-rechargable batteries they are going to die at some point, making satellite or probes useless after a short period of time. With Solar Panels, which will recharge the batteries this is no longer a problem. As a satellite or probe becomes like the Energizer Bunny it just keeps going and going.

So untill we can create a fusion engine, solar panels would be found on deep space spaceships. reason being that if you are getting power from the Sun to run ship Systems, you won’t have to use as much fuel. This give you more fuel to use to get about and stay out longer.

With this in mind, I am sticking a set on the early earth Battleship that I will soon start to building.
I was hoping to have this done by now, but the arm that will attach to the ship dose not look right and I’ve had to rebuild them a few times.

So here are the solar sails. The sails are able to trun 360 degrees, so no matter which direction the ship is pointing. They will still be pointing at the sun to absorb the most energy.
The sails are attached to a box that holds 2 motors; these are for turnning the sail in the direction of the sun. The box is armoured however the sails are not.
You will notice on the box that on one side there is a circle and two quater circles. The main circle attaches to another motor box that turns the wholw sail from a vertical position to a horizontal one. This is so that the sail can move towards the ship for docking or combat. I did think of having the sails fold away completely for combat reasons, but by the time it would take to do this. They would have taken damage stoping them from closing.

The quater circles are for power transfer to the ship/ batteries. The reason for two is that when the sails are in the horzontal position, they can still be used.
The sails won’t be just used for this ship as I plan to use it on a spacestation as well.
I am hoping to get the arm done by the end of the week.

Star Trek Truns 45.

September 8, 1966 is the official Birthday of Star Trek as this was the day the first episode aired. ‘The Man Trap’
But Star Trek beginning history start five years before this. Gene Roddenberry drafted a proposal for the science fiction series that would become Star Trek. Although he publicly marketed it as a Western in outer space—a so-called “Wagon Train to the Stars”.
It was different than any other draft handed in and had many ideas years before it time. One of the most notable Enovation was that a woman would have a command role on a military ship. But not just a low rank command role but that of the first officer.
The draft was given a green light for a Pilot to make. Unfortunately there was tom many ideas a head of it time and the executive’s did not green light a full series. It would not be until a few years later when NBC took another look at Star Trek; they commissioned Gene to write another pilot but this time to bring it more in line with views of the time. The second pilot still had idea head of it time and Gene refined his universe a bit more. The only actors to come back where Leonard Nimoy & Majel Barrett. NBC liked the second pilot and greened lighted the show.
However Star Trek early history was still rocky as the original series only lasted three years. This was due to the show time slot being moved around. The show went into syndication and re-runs started to play. This brought new fans that fell in love with it. By the early 70’s the first conventions where being held. There was only one thing the fan demanded was new episodes. Paramount pictures which had bought out NBC took not of this and started to put a new Star Trek series into works. This was to be called Star Trek Phase II. This was all change with the release of Star Wars. Due to popularity of the film, Paramount decides to move focus of making a new Star Trek series to a film.

While the story of The Motion Picture, is not great and the film is a little slow. It gave the fans what they demanded. The film made enough money that the studio green light a second film. This would was a even bigger success and is considered by many to be one of the best Trek films.
It would not be until 1987 That Star Trek would return to the small screen with Star Trek: The Next Generation. This was with a new crew and set 80 years after the movie adventures of the original crew. From this point Star Trek would not be off the small screen until 2005. To this date there are not been any other franchise to run continue for 18 years, though Stargate was on it way, until SGU was canceled.
In 2009 Star Trek was rebooted with a new movie going back to Kirk and co early days. The movie was a huge success. However some of the fan’s hated it as it engorged a lot the history and the essence of the show. But it did draw in a large number of new fans.
To date there has been 6 TV shows (Star Trek, Star Trek: The Animated Series, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Enterprise.), 11 movies.
Even with all of this Star Trek is far from dying out as book and comics are still very popular, the merchandise side of things keeps getting bigger each year. To top that off the 12 Star Trek movies has just gone into product, with a release date of 2014.

Star Trek will be with us for a long time to come.

Production Title: Test

All professional films from a short to a motion picture have a production company behind it. Weather they are financing it, distributing it or both.
Some of these companies are well know. The reason these companies was so well know is not just down to the films they are made/ distributed. But the little animation with these companies logos.
The most famous of these are the Hollywood Studios, 20 Century, Paramount Pictures, Universal, Dreamworks etc.
So as I am doing everything for my own film. I thought it would be cool to have my own little company animation at the start of each film I make.
Here is a little test, so it low quality with no sound. (I am still looking for the right piece of music that would work with it.) It’s simple but you get the idea. I think it still needs a bit work.
