When I first heard that they where remaking Total Recall. I was not sure it was a good idea. I love the original film, so really great moments and Michael Iron being one mean badass. I then heard that majority of the film would not be set on Mars but all on Earth. This really was not looking good.
But then I saw pictures of the police cruiser that was on show at Comic-Con.
The design was sleek and looked pretty good. But that is no way to say that it will be a good film. Now the teaser trailer has been realised, not much to go on, but it does look stunning with the CGI. The full trailer will not be far behind.
Even though I am such a fan of the original film, I will try and keep an open mind when I see this. But I know even if I try not to, it will be hard not to compare this with the original.
I have never read the Philip k Dick short story that both films are based on, maybe it time I did.
With the weapons finished, it was time to look at the Nacelles.
There where a lot errors in the Meshes, so this has meant a complete rebuild.
The meshes is now cleaner than it was before. I have saved a few items for the original version namely the blue glow bits.
I have added some RCS that where missing before and some other little bits of details.
I think this has turned out far better than the old version.
All that is left now is to add textures to them.

It is form a viral Video that goes with Ridely Scott’s film Prometheus.
The second trailer to Ridely Scott’s Prometheus, has been realised.
It has been claimed that Prometheus is not a prequel to the Alien franchise, which Scott helped to kick off. But a film set in the same universe.
The new trailer gives more info on the story without giving away anything. This is something of a rare event these days. (Check out my rant on the subject here )
The trailer also gives a lot of nods to Alien with the music of the tailers, the Space Jockey and the Space Jockey ship and a few other things. I won’t spoil it for you so here is the trailer.
If there is to be a sequel to Prometheus, Ridely Scott’s has stated at WonderCon, that it will go even farther away from the Alien franchise while still being part of it.
One thing is for sure I am sure looking forward to seeing this film.
A few weeks ago I finished the Type – 11 shuttle, I mentioned that I would do a picture of her to go into my asteroid collection that I did last year.
I got the scene all set up and can render it out in full HD with no issue.
However once I have added all the composting to finish off the picture it starts to crash and I get kicked out the program. But if I have everything set up at 50% of full HD, the picture renders out with no issue.
The only thing I can think that is causing the issue is lack of RAM.
The machine I have at work only has 250MB and can’t even render it out in full HD.
While my home machine, only has 3GB. This points to it being a memory issue, the only to know for sure is to render it out on a machine with higher memory.
My father-in-law has a machine with 12GB, so I have to test it out on his machine to be sure.
Until I can post up, the final finished peace. Here is a full HD version of the picture with no texture applied and the 50% HD picture with the composting completed.
Everything is by me except for the Klingon Bird of Pray by William Burningham.
With the weapons pod finished I have now moved onto the rest of the ship’s weapons.
Again there was issue with scale with the torpideo launchers. So I have gone in and remodelled these.
For the forward laucnhers I had two, but on the concept art there are four. So I have now corrected this to match.
On the offical ship there was no rear launcher. I had installed two on the secondary hull to fix the blind spot. With having corrected this issue with the remodelling of the weapons pods, there is no real reason to keep them there now. But I remodelled them to the correct scale. I might pull these out and put in a Tracter Beam emitter. But we will see.
As for the Phasers, there was nothing wrong with them. all I have done is corrected a few setting so they look better than they did before.
The widely anticipated movie “The Avengers” that is due out this summer has had a title change, from being just “The Avengers” to “The Avengers Assembled”, in the United Kingdom.
Since the project was announced it has been know as “The Avengers”. But with less than two months until it hits the big screen in the UK it was announced that the title would be changed.
There has been no reason give as to why they have decided to do this.
The only reason I can see is that it has same name as the well loved British TV series “The Avengers” which ran from 1961 to 1969. This also had a spin off, “The New Avengers” which aired 1976 to 1977. There was also the 1998 film which had Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman in the main roles; it also had Sean Connery as the films villain. However the film was a flop.
Most of the target audience of the Marvel film would not have seen the British TV show or even of heard about it. (The target audience would be the normal cinema goer between the age of 18 and 35. Not the Nerds and Geeks, who would know.) Those who have seen or know of the British TV show would be able to tell the difference between the two as there are huge differences between them. There is also the fact that the last two generation in the UK have been brought up with Marvel “The Avenger” as you can pick up the comics, graphic novel or even see the cartoon on TV.
This bring me to my question, do the Studio or Marketing people for this film really think that the British cinema goer is a complete moron?
Given that they have not given an exploration unlike they did with “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”, which was changed to “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” in the States.
No doubt, there will be a sequel to this film. The title to that will most likely be “The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes” so this will save them having to change a title that is already well known.
I’ll let you decide if the studio and marketing people think us Brits are fools. Here is a link to the WIKI page for the British TV show.
Here is the latest Trailer for Marvel’s “The Avengers” for the UK.
Keep an eye out for my review of the film.
