Freaking out about Sci-fi & Moives

Star Trek 12’s Villain Confirmed?

The rumour mill has started for J.J. Abram’s second Star Trek film.
So be aware spoiler below. You have been warned!! 😉

It has been rumoured ever since the reboot/ alternate universe Trek film came out that the sequel would have Khan as the villain, even though J.J. Abram denied that this would be the case. It has now been reported over on Trek Movie that Benedict Cumberbatch is in fact playing Khan. Not a major surprise given that Khan is one of Trek fans most favourite villains and Star Trek II the Wrath of Khan is considered as one of the best Trek films.

Interestingly, Trek Movie says that “the film is not a rehash of ‘Space Seed,’ the original Star Trek episode where Kirk and crew first encounter the genetic superman from the past.” And the oft-made Batman comparison is also apt here: The Trek team have frequently said that they’re looking to the model of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Movies, and in this case you can see Khan as being the equivalent of the Joker from the second film in that series.

Additionally, the site confirms that Leonard Nimoy is in fact back for Star Trek 2 as Spock Prime, which had been rumoured these past few days. And, the Klingons are confirmed to also be in the film — “not a sub-plot that could be easily cut out [like in Star Trek 11] … so we will finally see the J.J.-verse version of Klingons on the big screen.”

  1. I was so hoping he wasn’t going to do Khan. Ugh. I hope it’s good, we’ll have to wait and see. I’m interested in seeing the Klingons. Personally, as much as I love Leonard Nimoy, I actually wish they weren’t having Spock Prime in this one. I’d prefer that they left the “changed timeline” bit in their past and just went forward with new plot lines. The fact that they’re having him says to me that they won’t be forgetting that for this film. But, hopefully, he won’t be in it a lot.

    • I agree Leonard Nimoy should not be back as Spoke Prime. Having him there is to remind everyone that it’s an alternate universe.

For the Klingons, J.J. has kept there basic look but made a few changes. The deleted scences are on the Bluray of the film. I have been told that they have also been uploaded onto you tube.

As for Khan, I was really hoping that they would not do him. As I said he is a classic villian, this could take away from him, also you can’t top Ricardo Montalban.
This was there chance to do there own thing and move away from what has been done.
What will the next film be a remake of ‘The City on the Edge of Forever’?
